Swiss Ammo straps PAM217 and PAM233:<\/h2>\n

Hi strap lovers. I’m really happy to share some great photos of Swiss Ammo straps for Panerai from my great customer Serge (aka “Traveller”) who has been very generous to allow me access to some of his photos of his wonderful PAM233<\/a> and PAM217<\/a> watches paired with his Dangerous9<\/span><\/b><\/span> 1960’s Swiss Ammo straps. Very kind of Serge to take the trouble to make these wonderful photos. His are certainly our ‘Watches of the Week’!<\/p>\n

A brief History:<\/h2>\n

Our Swiss Ammo straps are only made from leather salvaged from vintage Swiss Army Ammunition Pouches.\u00a0 These pouches, which were manufactured by contract with the Swiss Military were handmade and hand saddle stitched by Settlers throughout Switzerland from between the very late 19th century right through both world wars and ending in the last 1960s.\u00a0 The Stampings that you see on the straps featured here are the original sattler makers stamp and the year of manufacture together with a Swiss Cross inspection stamp with the initial of the inspector.\u00a0 The leather used was heavily waxed vegetable-tanned leather, the benefits of which were to render the pouches extremely waterproof and to harden the leather, giving these pouches a hardened case like structure in order to protect the rifle cartridges they were meant to hold.<\/p>\n
