Vintage Patek Philippe Calatrava on Cognac Ostrich Leg strap
Vintage Patek Philippe Calatrava on Cognac Ostrich Leg strap – Our local customer was kind enough to leave his wife’s 1970s vintage Patek Philippe Calatrava with us to fit the new strap. She wanted something a bit more relaxed from the black Crocodile strap that was on the watch, so we came up with something new. It’s a glossy finish Cognac Ostrich Leg skin with Beige French linen hand saddle stitching and Classic Tan Eel skin lining. This Vintage Patek is THIN at about 5mm, so the strap had to be very thin as well, and so to give it some strength and durability, we used about a 1mm mid-layer of vegetable-tanned Kangaroo leather. I think it’s a pretty great combo.
One thing (among many) that I particularly love about this watch is the elegant slim-line Roman numeral dial markers, which I think really bring the elegance of this watch to another level when compared with the more common stick markers of the period.
