Custom Ostrich Strap – Blancpain Bathyscaphe – Hi strap lovers, I’m excited to share with you these photos of a strap that I made for a local customer’s Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Sylt edition. This watch with its beautiful Dial and Brezel in brushed green and Titanium case, is fantastic-looking. The strap that we designed in collaboration with our customer was made from our ‘Hulk’ Green Ostrich Leg skin and features padding at the lugs and our ‘Thick Curved Lug System’ (TCLS), which provides the strap with an integrated fit between the lugs. Initially, we had decided on Lume Green accent stitching at the lugs, but the result, while nice, lacked some pizazz. However, having switched to the Red Accent stitching, I think transforms the strap to be much more interesting and subtly more eye-catching. Lined with our ‘Clone’ patterned black Kangaroo gloving leather, which offers both extreme durability and softness on the wrist, I think this strap is about a perfect combination!
Achieving the perfect integrated fit:
Custom Ostrich Strap – Blancpain Bathyscaphe – Having struggled in the past to achieve the ideal fitment to the watch with our integrated ‘Thick Curved Lug System’, our customer was kind enough to leave his precious timepiece with me for a couple of days so that I could achieve the perfect fit and having done so, I now feel quite confident that I will be able to make this fitment just as well on future straps for this Bathyscaphe models.

Thank you, it was a real pleasure meeting you and building your strap. I’m really happy with how it turned out and glad that we stitched to the red accent stitching. It seems like a small detail, but I think that it makes a big improvment over the lume-toned accent stitching. I’ll be starting on your other strap on order very soon.
