That is exactly what happened when our local customer Peter brought us his stunning Patek Philippe 5172G-001 and asked Dangerous9straps to create something truly special to accompany it.
The result? A bespoke strap made from our exclusive Denim Blue Ostrich Leg skin, custom tanned for us by our Italy-based tannery partner, designed specifically to complement the deep blue dial of this exceptional chronograph.

Why the Patek Philippe 5172G Deserves a Bespoke Strap
The 5172G-001 is widely admired for its vintage-inspired design, white gold case, and rich blue dial with luminous Arabic numerals. It is a watch full of depth, character, and traditional watchmaking pedigree. Driven by Patek’s hand finished CH 29-535 PS, Manual winding, Chronograph Caliber. Pairing such a piece with a standard strap simply doesn’t do it justice.

Bespoke Details Requested by the Customer
One of the joys of bespoke work is tailoring every element to the wearer’s preference. Peter requested several custom features that give this strap a distinctive profile:
- Padding at the lugs for a smooth, integrated transition into the case
- A single fixed keeper loop for a cleaner, more refined appearance
- A rounded strap end to soften the silhouette and complement the vintage aesthetic of the watch
- Superfine hand saddle-stitching using our slate grey French-milled linen thread
The slate grey stitching provides gentle contrast against the denim blue ostrich, highlighting the hand craftsmanship without distracting from the overall harmony of the design.
Every stitch is done by hand, ensuring strength, longevity, and visual perfection.
Performance Meets Luxury: Kangaroo Nappa Lining
While the exterior makes the first impression, the lining is where long-term comfort and durability are decided.
This strap is lined with our deep navy nappa Kangaroo leather. These hides are not ordinary kangaroo leathers — they are specifically engineered for use in professional motorcycle racing suits. That means they are designed to withstand:

For a watch strap, these properties translate into exceptional longevity and comfort on the wrist, even with daily wear.
