Custom Stingray straps by Dangerous9straps – This blog post is to share some of the many Stingray straps that I have made over the years.  Stingray is a curious material having a pebbled surface that is very similar to toothy-bone-like material with a substrate of leather. As such the Stingray, which typically arrives from the tannery with a polished finish, can be given a sanded matte finish if our customer wants a less flashy strap.  This result is an extremely durable leather that makes for an excellent basis for a watch strap.  Although cutting, smoothing/polishing the edges to achieve an elegantly refined watch strap is very labor intensive.

These are typically raised and harvested in Thailand where they are grown as a food source and the skins are then salvaged for leather so that these leathers are not in any way a threat to the environment and are not endangered or restricted.

Please see my current collection of Stingray skins here: Dangerous9straps Stingray Skins in current stock.

I have broken these straps into the three main components for Stingray: Unpolished, Polished, and Row Stone, as I think it would be best to present these as very separate design options:

Row Stone Stingray – Custom Stingray straps by Dangerous9strap:

Needless to say, these straps are extremely eye-catching and have become one of our most in-demand Stingray options.

Polished Stingray – Custom Stingray Straps by Dangerous9straps:

I stock polished Stingray’s massive number of color options.  These straps are made from oval-shaped Stingray where the Tannery dyes these skins and then polishes the surface to reveal the white inner core of the bone-link pebbles on the surface of these skins.  These skins come from the tannery with a highly polished finish, however, if our customers request a matte finish, I can sand off the polished finish resulting in a matte finish.  Also, the straps that I make can either be cut from the center pearls section or from the off-center portions without the central pearls section:
