Just Arrived Ostrich Leg Skins – Hi strap lover, We are genuinely excited to share the arrival of an exceptional new batch of Ostrich Leg skins, freshly delivered from our long-standing Italy-based tannery partner. These are not off-the-shelf hides. Every one of these skins has been bespoke tanned exclusively for Dangerous9straps to our exact specification for color depth, softness, surface finish, and long-term durability—and as we’ve come to expect from this tannery, the results are nothing short of spectacular.
You will see two distinct finishes in this new delivery:
- SuperMatte – beautifully flat, contemporary, and ultra-refined
- Semi-Matte – with just the slightest hint of sheen that brings the scale pattern to life
Both finishes are incredibly hard-wearing, making them ideal for luxury custom watch straps that are built to age gracefully with your watch.
We will also be allocating portions of these skins to future Dangerous9straps Production Straps, so you can expect to see some of these colors appear in ready-made offerings in the coming months.
Here are the five new colors we could not be more proud of.
SuperMatte Highland Grey Ostrich Leg:
Highland Grey has already proven to be a huge success in our Semi-Matte finish. The demand from customers pairing this tone with tool watches, titanium cases, and vintage steel pieces has been remarkable.
So we asked our tannery to produce a SuperMatte version—and the result is stunning.
This version removes all surface reflectivity, allowing the incredible natural pattern of the Ostrich Leg scales to take center stage. The tone sits in that perfect space between grey and warm stone, making it exceptionally versatile across both modern and vintage watches.
If you love understated elegance with serious character, this is the one.
Semi-Matte Antique Tan Ostrich Leg:
Antique Tan has a special story:
This was originally a color we developed and hand-finished in our own workshop. It became so popular with customers that we decided it deserved to become a permanent, tannery-produced color in our lineup.
Now professionally produced to our exact tone and finish specification, this Semi-Matte Antique Tan offers warm, rich caramel hues with beautiful depth that only Ostrich Leg can provide.
This is a dream pairing for bronze watches, gilt dials, vintage pieces, and anything with warmth in the dial or case.
Semi-Matte Grigio-Verde Ostrich Leg:
Grigio-Verde is a color we originally fell in love with in French alligator from the renowned France Croco collection.
We loved it so much that we challenged our Italian tannery to reproduce this exact grey-green tone in Ostrich Leg.
They absolutely nailed it.
The result is a breathtaking Semi-Matte Ostrich Leg that mirrors the original alligator color with extraordinary accuracy while offering a completely different texture and personality.
This is both Andrea’s and my personal favorite in this batch. On the wrist, it is subtle, complex, and endlessly interesting in changing light.
SuperMatte Baltic Blue Ostrich Leg:
Baltic Blue was first developed for our Teju Lizard collection and quickly became a customer favorite.
Its success made it an obvious choice to bring into Ostrich Leg.
In SuperMatte form, Baltic Blue becomes deep, moody, and modern. The flat finish allows the rich blue tone to feel almost velvety, while the scale structure adds depth and movement.
This is a fantastic option for blue dials, steel sports watches, and contemporary pieces that need something unique yet refined.
Semi-Matte Navy Blue:
Rounding out the collection is a classic, beautifully executed Semi-Matte Navy Blue.
This is not a loud blue. It is rich, deep, and elegant, with just enough sheen to highlight the natural patterning of the leg scales.
If you want a timeless blue strap that still has distinctive texture and character, this is a superb choice.
