Patek Philippe 5326G: A Bespoke Old English Grey Goat Strap
Peter’s Patek Philippe Annual Calendar Travel Time
Patek Philippe 5326G: A Bespoke Old English Grey Goat Strap – Some watches demand a thoughtful approach to strap design, and Peter’s stunning Patek Philippe Annual Calendar Travel Time Ref. 5326G-001 is certainly one of them. Combining sophisticated complications with a distinctive vintage-inspired aesthetic, this remarkable timepiece provided the perfect canvas for a bespoke Dangerous9straps creation, handcrafted from Old English Grey African Goat leather from our Safari Collection.
The objective was to complement the Patek Philippe’s handsome charcoal grey dial and white gold case while introducing unique texture, understated contrast, and the unmistakable character of a handmade leather watch strap.
Patek Philippe 5326G-001: Design Meets Function
The Patek Philippe 5326G-001 is an impressive expression of the manufacture’s technical expertise and design sensibility. Its 41mm white gold Calatrava-style case features an intricate Clous de Paris hobnail pattern around the caseband, adding an elegant decorative detail to its otherwise restrained silhouette.
The textured charcoal grey dial, with its black-gradient rim, takes inspiration from the finish of vintage camera cases. Applied numerals and luminous hands provide excellent legibility, while the thoughtfully arranged displays communicate an impressive range of information without overwhelming the dial.
Inside, the self-winding movement combines two particularly useful complications: an Annual Calendar displaying the day, date, and month, and Patek Philippe’s Travel Time system for tracking local and home time. Moon phases and small seconds complete this sophisticated package. It is a watch that balances practical functionality with traditional haute horlogerie craftsmanship.

Old English Grey African Goat: Character from Our Safari Collection
For Peter’s bespoke watch strap, I selected Old English Grey African Goat leather from our Safari African Leathers Collection. Its beautifully nuanced grey color and distinctive natural texture provide a compelling alternative to conventional smooth calfskin, complementing the watch’s charcoal dial without simply duplicating its appearance.
Our Safari Collection features distinctive African leathers selected for their individual character, attractive textures, and suitability for creating exceptional custom watch straps. Developed in collaboration with our British heritage tannery partner, Tusting & Burnett, the collection reflects our appreciation for unusual materials and traditional leather craftsmanship.

These leathers bring a different dimension to bespoke strap making, with natural variations that give each finished piece its own personality. For Peter’s Patek Philippe, Old English Grey Goat offers the perfect balance of understated elegance and distinctive texture.
Handcrafted Details: Vintage Ecru Stitching and Classic Tan Lining
Made by hand in our Munich workshop, Peter’s strap features carefully shaped padding at the lugs to give the watch a more substantial presence on the wrist, complemented by a single wide, fixed keeper loop for a clean, purposeful profile.

I hand saddle stitched the strap using our Vintage Ecru linen thread, selected specifically to complement the watch’s warm, vintage-toned luminous hands and dial markers. This thoughtful color choice carries the watch’s distinctive charcoal grey and tan palette into the strap itself, creating a harmonious connection between the timepiece and its bespoke accessory.
The strap is lined with Classic Tan Kidskin leather, adding another carefully considered detail to this coordinated design. Its warm tan color echoes the vintage lume, hands, and dial markers, while providing a smooth, comfortable surface against the wrist. Together, the Vintage Ecru stitching and Classic Tan lining reinforce the handsome interplay between the watch’s charcoal grey dial and warm vintage accents.
At Dangerous9straps, we believe the finest bespoke straps are about more than fit and material quality. It is the attention paid to these subtle color relationships that transforms a good-looking strap into one that feels as though it truly belongs on the watch.
Our Kidskin lining collection offers a wide selection of colors, allowing customers to personalize even the details that remain hidden beneath the wrist. Discover the options in our Kidskin Watch Strap Lining Collection.
Completing the Strap with a Patek Philippe-Style Deployant
Peter’s watch came with a 16mm White Gold Patek Philippe Calatrava single fold deployant clasp with snap closure, which we both felt was too small for the watch, requiring a too radical taper from its 21mm lug width. So we have chosen instead to finishing the strap with an 18mm aftermarket, unbranded, Patek Philippe Nautilus-style deployment clasp with the extra security of button activation. Its contemporary design complements the watch’s sophisticated character while maintaining a discreet appearance without additional branding.
Peter’s finished strap demonstrates what bespoke watch strap making is all about: carefully chosen materials, considered proportions, traditional hand stitching, and personal details that bring a remarkable timepiece to life.
At Dangerous9straps, every bespoke strap is made by me for the individual watch and its owner. If you have a special timepiece that deserves something beyond an off-the-shelf solution, I would be delighted to help you create a strap of your own.
