Four New Nappa Kangaroo Colors for Dangerous9straps – We are always looking for materials that combine performance, durability and exceptional feel, and few leathers have impressed us as much as our Nappa-finished Kangaroo leather.
We are therefore delighted to introduce four newly arrived Nappa Kangaroo colors to the Dangerous9straps collection. Alongside the return of one of our most popular lining colors, Emergency Orange, we now have three exciting new options: Deep Green, Gold and Matte White.
These beautiful colors give us even more possibilities when creating bespoke watch straps — and they are certainly not limited to use on the underside of the strap.
Engineered for Motorcycle Racing
There is a very good reason why we have such confidence in the durability of these particular Nappa Kangaroo leathers.
They are specially tanned for use in motorcycle racing suits, where leather must withstand extremely demanding conditions. The tannery has engineered these hides to provide exceptional strength, durability and resistance to the stresses encountered in motorcycle racing.
That makes them a fascinating material for handmade watch straps.
A watch strap may not experience the same extreme conditions as a racing suit, but using a leather engineered for such demanding applications gives your strap an impressive margin of durability. For us, this is exactly the kind of over-engineering that makes sense when creating a strap intended to provide years of service.
Exceptional Strength and Resistance
Kangaroo leather is renowned for its remarkable strength-to-weight ratio. It is often described as having up to ten times the tensile strength of cow leather at the same thickness.
Our Nappa-finished Kangaroo leather is also highly resistant to moisture and skin oils, making it particularly well suited to the demanding environment on the underside of a watch strap.
Combined with its extraordinary tensile strength, these characteristics make it an excellent choice for watch strap construction — whether used as a lining or as the exterior leather itself.
And despite its impressive performance characteristics, Nappa Kangaroo remains wonderfully soft and supple against the skin.
Emergency Orange Is Back
Our Emergency Orange Nappa Kangaroo has become one of our most popular choices for watch strap linings, so we are especially pleased to have it back in stock.
Its vivid orange color is particularly effective with sporty, military-inspired and racing-style straps. It can provide a wonderful flash of unexpected color beneath a more conservative exterior, while also being perfectly capable of taking center stage as the outside of a strap.
Three New Colors: Deep Green, Gold & Matte White
Joining Emergency Orange are three completely new colors for Dangerous9straps.
Deep Green offers a rich, understated alternative that works beautifully with black, brown and natural leathers.
Gold brings a warmer, more luxurious character and should make an especially interesting combination with vintage-inspired leathers, brown alligator and exotic skins.
Finally, Matte White provides a clean and contemporary option that can create a striking contrast with darker outer leathers — or make a wonderfully distinctive strap when used on the exterior.
