Black Alligator Strap for Rolex Oyster Perpetual:
Black Alligator Strap for Rolex Oyster Perpetual – This is the second strap that I’ve made for my good customer Diego’s Rolex watches. Having previously made a very similar strap for his Submariner, he decided that he would like to give the same treatment to his Rolex Oyster Perpetual 41mm Ref. 124300. Made from our ‘Million Dollar Black‘ Alligator, which offers a great shine, paired with black French-milled linen thread and Motorcycle black Kangaroo gloving leather.
This strap looks very straightforward in design, but it belies some really technical innovations exclusive to Dangerous9straps:
First – Of course, is our integrated ‘Thick Curved Lugs System’ (TCLS), which offers an integrated fit between the lugs and really sets our straps custom straps apart from standard straight-end straps which will show a gap between the straight-end strap that the curve of the watch case. This option is somewhat complicated by the fact that the current series Oyster Perpetual 41 (along with the current series Datejust 41 and Day-day 41, which share the same mid-case design) have spring bars that are set very close to the watch case. This necessitates my building straps for these model watches that feature our TCLS upgrade to use curved spring bars instead of straight spring bars. Having innovated this technique, I can be confident of a great fit for the Oyster Perpetual, Day-Date, and Datejust 41 models with the same confidence of a great fit as for the Rolex Submariner, GMT, and Daytona model watches.
Second – The Rolex bracelet clasp fit. Again, achieving a great fitment for the Rolex Bracelet clasps has been a bit of an odyssey. This mostly had to do with achieving the correct strap length and the proper measurement for the bracelet clasp attachment point, using the correct leather reinforcement, and still keeping the strap thin enough so that a good fitment on the wrist is achieved. While Alligator leather is quite strong, reinforcement of the leather at the bracelet attachment point, which allows for only about 1mm leather thickness and 8 or 9mm width is critical to avoid stretching and eventual failure of the strap. As a result, these attachments can be quite tight, but I believe these straps will be quite durable at the point of attachment to the bracelet clasp.

Third – The use of our Kangaroo gloving leather which is both extremely soft on the wrist and well as extremely durable offers a wrist feel that is unsurpassed. These Kangaroo gloving leathers have been specifically engineered by the tannery for use in motorcycling and sports gloves to offer both a buttery soft hand and the ability to withstand many wet/dry cycles over years without becoming still or brittle. This is often a failure point with watch straps. Even when the outside of the strap is still in great condition after years of wear, the lining will often disintegrate due to repeated exposure to oils and especially sweat, rendering the strap unwearable. These Kangaroo gloving leathers will dramatically extend the service life of your watch strap.

As a result of the thought and design innovation committed to these straps, great results can be achieved both in terms of beauty and durability. Each one of our custom straps is entirely hand-made by myself in our Munich workshop so both beauty and durability are of paramount importance:
