Steffen’s Teju Lizard Strap for Grand Seiko Snowflake – Made from our Baltic Blue SuperMatte Teju Lizard made for his iconic Grand Seiko Snowflake SGBA211, Steffen has taken these extraordinary photos. Grand Seiko has become, in the past several years, one of the hottest watch brands among watch collectors. Looking at this Snowflake model (truly Grand Seiko’s flagship) on our Baltic Blue SuperMatte Teju Lizard (a flagship strap for Dangerous9straps), it’s not difficult to understand why. Superbly crafted from grade 5 Titanium with Grand Seiko’s gorgeous Zaratsu polishing. As well as Grand Seiko’s innovative and totally in-house manufacture Caliber Springdirve 9R65. However, the real star of the show, as is the case with many Grand Seiko model watches, is the extraordinary ‘Snowflake’ dial. So named by watch collectors for its astonishing textured dial in pure white, looking for all the world like freshly fallen snow. This is in no way accidental because the designers of Grand Seiko often take inspiration from Japan’s natural beauty for the color and texture of their dials. This can hardly be surprising, given the Japanese Shinto tradition, with its spiritual ties with the natural world. The one factor that I feel really drives Grand Seiko is their consistent efforts going forward to do everything a little bit better – better watch cases, better movements, and better dials, resulting in an overall package that is virtually irresistible to watch enthusiasts.
It’s always a pleasure to build straps for these excellent watches. The Baltic Blue SuperMatte Teju Lizard for the Snowflake has become very much a flagship model since the first strap that I made in this format for my Brian back in 2017. These straps feature padding at the lugs and our exclusive ‘Thick Curved Lug System’ (TCLS), with provides the strap with an integrated fit between the lugs and superfine hand saddle stitching using White French-milled linen. Steffen’s strap also features our super soft and durable Commando Grey Alcantara™ Luxury Sueded Fabrics from Italy and our ‘D9’ logo, inner-fold deployant clasp, which also offer supreme comfort as well as a very clean finish on the wrist.
