A Perfect Match for the Blue Tudor Pelagos
Tudor Pelagos and Black Bay on Oyster Blue Alligator – Every so often, a watch and strap combination comes together so naturally that it feels as though they were designed for one another. That was certainly the case when our local customer Soti brought his Tudor Pelagos Ref. M25600TB-0001 to Dangerous9straps for a bespoke strap.
The blue titanium Tudor Pelagos is a distinctive and purposeful watch, combining Tudor’s unmistakable dive-watch design with an unusually lightweight titanium case and striking blue details. For Soti’s strap, we wanted something that would complement the bold character of the Pelagos without simply trying to duplicate its blue titanium aesthetic. The answer was Oyster Blue Alligator, selected from our premium France Croco Alligator Collection.
Oyster Blue Alligator and an Integrated Fit
The Oyster Blue Alligator has just the right combination of color, texture and understated luxury for this Tudor. Its rich blue tone with slight metallic sheen works beautifully with the Pelagos case and dial, while the natural scale pattern of the alligator adds a more refined dimension to this fundamentally utilitarian dive watch.
Construction is equally important. We built the strap with padding at the lugs and our Thick Curved Lug System (TCLS). The TCLS allows the strap to follow the curvature of the watch case, creating a wonderfully integrated transition between the lugs and strap.
Rather than looking like a conventional strap simply attached to the watch, the result feels much more cohesive—as though the strap belongs there.
White French-Milled Linen Stitching
To finish the strap, I hand saddle stitched it using our medium-gauge No. 432 French-milled linen thread in white.
The choice of white thread was deliberate. The bold white stitching echoes the prominent white hour markers on the Pelagos dial, creating a subtle visual connection between the watch and strap. It is a small detail, but these are precisely the details that can make a bespoke strap work so well.
For the lining, we chose our soft and exceptionally durable black “Clone” Kangaroo Gloving leather. This material provides a comfortable surface against the wrist while being remarkably tough—an ideal combination for a strap destined to spend time on a sports watch.
And It Works on the Black Bay, Too!
I was also curious to see how the strap would look on my own Tudor Black Bay with blue bezel. Fortunately, the geometry between the lugs is identical between the Black Bay and the Pelagos, making the strap a perfect fit on both watches.
As you can see from the photographs, the combination works surprisingly well. The Oyster Blue Alligator complements the blue bezel beautifully, while the white linen stitching reinforces the vintage-inspired character of the Black Bay.
Soti and I both agree that this bespoke Tudor Pelagos strap turned out exceptionally well. The combination of Oyster Blue Alligator, white French-milled linen stitching, black Kangaroo lining and TCLS integrated construction gives this blue titanium Tudor an entirely different personality—luxurious, distinctive and unmistakably bespoke.
This one is definitely making its way onto our Watches of the Week list!
